About Me
Hi!
Thanks for stopping by, I'm so glad you're here! My name is Rachel and I'm the sole owner and operator of Backcountry Farms Soap.
Backcountry Farms Soap was started in the fall of 2020 after a long-time dream of making my own handmade soaps and body products. I've always had a love for artisan soaps and would seek them out wherever I went. It drove my husband nuts, so when I mentioned that I wanted to try making my own he said go for it! And that I did - jumped in feet first and have loved every minute of it. It has been an amazing and creative outlet for me. My goal is to make as clean of a product as I can, that will nourish your skin and offer many healing benefits.
My husband and our 2 boys moved to the West Kootenays in the late summer of 2017 with the desire to leave the hustle and bustle of the very touristy Alberta town we were residing in. We came for our first visit to this area in May of 2017 and instantly fell in love with everything it had to offer, especially the more remote homesteading kind of lifestyle that is so common here. Our goal is to live a simpler life and become more self sustainable by growing as much of our own food as possible and living closer to the land. In a whirl wind of events, just 3 months later we were on route to our new home.
Not a day goes by that I'm not in absolute awe of the beauty that surrounds us. It is truly paradise and I feel so very blessed to be here, living the wonderful mountain lifestyle and all that it has to offer. We love the outdoors, from hiking, fishing, bonfires, to snowboarding and never ending beaches we try to be as active as we can, which isn't hard when we live where we do :)
I've always been an artist of some sort and have dabbled in many different areas such as sewing, painting, music, photography etc. I thoroughly enjoy the creative process that soap making has to offer - the possibilities are endless and I get to create a very unique form of art.
Thank you so much for supporting Small Business!
